Bittersweet: First album of new material in 7 years!

After seven years, I’m finally returning with a new studio album. 'Bittersweet' is my first studio album since 'Thaw', which was released in 2019. While 'Thaw' was a cinematic journey inspired by the landscapes and culture of Greenland, 'Bittersweet' explores a different and perhaps more conventional side of my musical universe.

The album consists of ten songs featuring six different singers. Each brings their own voice, personality and character to the music, creating a broad range of moods and expressions.

One of the things I find particularly interesting about 'Bittersweet' is how some of the music came together. Several sections started out as live recordings, capturing the energy and immediacy of the performances. I later brought these recordings into the studio and built on them with overdubs and additional production. I really like the balance this creates between the spontaneity of playing together and the details that can be shaped in the studio.

Although 'Bittersweet' is being released as a complete album now, some of the songs have already had a life of their own. Around half of the album’s tracks have been accompanied by music videos, with the earliest videos dating back to 2021. The visual side of the project has therefore grown alongside the music over several years, and I see the album and videos as two connected parts of the same body of work.

With 'Bittersweet', I’m bringing together years of recordings, performances, collaborations and visual work into one ten-track album. It’s a project that has been shaped not only in the studio, but also by the passage of time. Some of these songs and videos have been with me for several years, and it feels really good to finally bring everything together and share 'Bittersweet' as a complete release.
